WHY KEEPING COW WHEN WE CAN BUY MILK?
Milk is an opaque white fluid rich in fat and protein,secreted by female mammals for the nourishment of their young.Cow milk is fortified in Vitamin D which is highly beneficial to bone health.We are not dwelling on this scientifically but used figuratively to create a style that puts our modern society in spot light with respect to relationship and marriage institution.In the past,parents look forward to seen their children getting married and settle down in family way.Today,those aroma of marriage catches no fancy as before in modern settings.
Quite unfortunate, many marriageable spinsters,ladies and divorcee are willing to live as baby mamas or separated.This development agitated my mind and I took no time to interview few ladies as regards this ugly trend.I was bewildered when confronted with the following questions from ladies.- Do I need an husband when I can have boyfriend and raise babies?Do I need any husband when I have a lucrative job that fetches reasonable income?Do I need somebody who will ask me where are you coming from or checking on my every inch movement?When desirable are not available,should I pick any available as desirable?These are few questions among many agitating questions in minds of some marriageable female age grades.-"Do I need to keep cow when I can by milk"?.
In the other hands,young men are not willing to engage in marriage because of many reasons.Few of them see marriage as a burden and felt is better to avoid more burden of wife and children.They smartly believe is better to put girlfriend in a family way and have children rather than cohabit ate as husband and wife.Few see it as societal factor or trend blindly accepted at expense of moral values.Though in some cases,many attribute it to job insecurity, incessant loss of jobs,disappointment,external influence etal .A case study is Nigeria,a nation blessed with bundles of brilliant,hardworking young men and women who are able and ripe for marriage but rather chose to be single lady or eligible bachelor. The perception is mainly that marriage is boring and conventional which should be bundled away.All these are not far from the truth from individual point of view but lets see why we need to keep the cow and enjoy the milk in comfort?Family unit is a seed,if the seed is good,the seedling will be good.When these seeds are well nurtured,we should expect a bumper harvest.The off springs will come out well and contribute meaningfully to society and help in Nation building.The decadence we have in society today are mostly products of bad seeds we are planting today.Family institution must be encouraged more and society should help to fight barriers against this God's ordain institutions.Government should assist in helping to shape society so than problems of joblessness and job insecurity will be things of the past.Religious institutions should not fail in their responsibilities to sustain and upheld this value.The agitation has not ended,but in my opinion,we need to keep cow and enjoy our milk?
